Gold River Water Conservation Plan

PURPOSE

To dramatically reduce the use of water for landscaping while maintaining the beauty and esthetic value of landscape within Gold River Community Association’s jurisdiction.

The Water Conservation and Landscape Plan will be used to implement water conservation efforts and modify landscaping to meet the challenges of water conservation. As a guideline, the Plan will ensure the beauty and esthetic value of Gold River landscaping.

The Plan will establish guidelines and recommendations to judge the effectiveness of future decisions regarding water uses and landscape. The Plan will advance recommendations containing specific project plans with implementation costs and expected cost savings.

SCOPE

The project covers all GRCA properties under irrigation. The analysis includes:

1. Reduce the number of water meter while maintaining water availability thereby reducing fixed costs.

2. Drought resistant plantings as a method of reducing water consumption.

3. Mainstream technology intended to increase irrigation efficiency thereby reducing water consumption.

OBJECTIVES

Develop a comprehensive water conservation plan. The plan incorporates the following analytical tasks:

• Identify technology to advance the goal of the water conservation plan.

• Review and change the approved plant material list to ensure the use of more drought resistant planting.

• Identify additional methods to achieve water conservation.

• Develop a timeline and cost analysis for implementation of the Plan.

Once formulated and approved, the plan will become a tool to guide the transformation of our current landscape to the landscape of the future.
