Crime Alert around American River Parkway

The Park Rangers are investigating two separate crimes and we are asking for help from the people that use the American River Parkway. The first crime we are investigating is a series of arson fires that have been set in Riverbend and William B. Pond Parks. There have been six fires set between July 21st and August 2nd. Three of the fires were set on July 20th. The fires have been set on both sides of the bike bridge and in the nature areas all the way upstream to Hagin Park. They have been set in both the morning and the early afternoon.  A possible suspect has been seen in the area. He is described as:

White male adult

Approximately 24 years old

5’8” tall and about 195 pounds

He has shoulder length brown hair and hazel eyes

He has been described as looking homeless

He is possibly riding a bike

The second crime occurred on Thursday July 30th at approximately 5:45 p.m. along the bike trail near the Northgate overcrossing. A female bicyclist was followed by a male subject on a bike. He caught up to her on the trail and grabbed her breast. The suspect fled when the victim yelled at him. He is describe as:

White male adult

In his twenties

5’6” to 5’8” tall and 160 to 180 pounds

He has very short dark blond hair and possibly brown eyes

He is described as having a very pale complexion

He is riding a bmx type bike

He was wearing board shorts that were black with white splotches and no shirt
